Orphaned Oak
Rough chest
This is a box which is attractive because of its roughness. The original item of furniture it was born of, was a solid, low table/cupboard, possible a TV stand. My goodness it was heavy. The wood it was made from was not smooth, but its very charm lay in the rough-hewn nature of it, and it had a lovely grain pattern. I put a black iron handle on the lid, and a black iron chain as a lid restraint. I made handles from old hemp rope, and to make it more comfortable to lift, put wooden handles on the rope.
